08 in retrospect

Posted by DeeJayVrs

08 definitely was not the best of years, yet not the worst. Not to sound to Melodramatic.

Started the year of being laid off while still coping with a stolen car and discovering new avenues of transportation, i.e. Bus, Taxi, Bike, and my personal favorite, walking.

Probably worked more odd jobs this year than i care to remember. Hence the saying, " You do what you gotta do."

At least I know I got that hustle gene in me. Thanks pop!

I grew away from deejaying which i haven't done since i started. It caused me to grow more bitter and anti-social. Reminded me how important it is to have a constructive hobby. All work and no play makes VRS a dull B-boy.

What does 09 has in store for me? That depends on what I want.....

I fucks with clark kent

Posted by DeeJayVrs

Dj Clark Kent is that dude. I had the pleasure of meeting him last year at Spirits in the Hard Rock and he tore the club down. Very personable and i think that is the reason i lost my job at that club. i was working as a barback and i spent the night walking to the booth every chance i got to talk to him. The next day they fired me lol. I made sure i made the most of the opportunity to pay my respects to a true dj an easily one of my influences.

Krink it

12oz Prophet is a site that is right up my alley. I just wish they would have put out more mags. I copped the 12oz with the Twister cover back when it dropped. i ended up losing it. Now that mag is worth like 150. It was dope a mag while it lasted. The flix were clean and it had a couple shots from Wiz Art in Rhode Island who was one of my Graff influences.

Good to see that 12oz has become so much more than a graff mag. i came across these joint on their site and i had to jack it (PAUSE). If you don't know who KR is then do your homework, but he recently designed these AF1 and I dont know if they come with the Marker but if they do thats a double whammy. i love that graffiti and hip hop has gotten involved in the corporate world but still has maintained a sense of exclusiveness. Hip Hop just makes everything better doesn't it??

Mood change

Posted by DeeJayVrs

Sorry about the consecutive posts about relationships. lets lighten up the mood with this classic throw back. Probably my all time favorite Rakim track and recently i came across one of the sample used for the beat by accident. But i didn't see the video till recently and its completely different from the album cut. I bought Let the rhythm hit em on a reprint so i didn't know that there were two versions. There is always something to learn about hip hop.

stop playing games

Today out of extreme bordem at work i came to this conclusion about relationships.

When it comes to relationships, it is either Chess or Checkers. You can play smart and strategically maneuver your way to your King or Queen, Or you can just jump over everyone until your the only one left (Or until you have a red dot strategically placed some where on your body).

Cold hearted like a she yet soothing like R&B

Posted by DeeJayVrs

Its just a little saying I made up in high school to expression my frustration towards girls. Which now would translate to my frustration towards women (Not that I have any!).

Now, not to give women the short end of the stick. Not all women are cold and honestly i have not encountered many women who can be described as cold. Remember i made this up in high school!! Because one thing that is almost always true, is that a relationship will work if a man wants it too. Women are monogamous creatures my law. Assuming a man does everything he is told.

At the time when i made up the saying it was purely emotional. It just sounded cool and it expressed my sadness towards the opposite sex and acknowledging that even when experiencing the trials of dealing with women, there is a ray of hope that does not wither.

Which is exactly the feeling i get when i listen to R&B. I can't help to be sad and reminisce on past relationships, but the music enables me to remain positive. Which is probably why people listen to R&B music when they are fresh out of a break up. People love to be depressed and feel sorry for themselves in hopes that someone will notice it and give them the attention that they so desperately need (me included).

So next time your dealing with something or someone, say it to yourself. It may put things into perspective. It works for me!

Anyone who reads this please don't look into to this post more than you have to. I am all about relating not the subliminal.....only when necessary.
