Gem of the week! Poor Righteous Teachers - My 3 Wives

Posted by DeeJayVrs

This is song is off the New World Order album. Big up to this kid Chaos i went to high school with who is an incredible MC and graffiti artist at that.
He worked at the record shop in the local mall and recommended this album to me and is one of my favorites to this day. He also sold mix tapes at school that had everyone scrambling to find 5 bucks lol. Anyways here's my favorite track off the album My 3 Wives. Enjoy

Here's a party break I put together last night for all you Deejay's & SheJays. Nothing crazy but its exactly what i said it is...a break for the dj! you know we all love those 8 bar intros!

Every little bit helps

Posted by DeeJayVrs

You ever ask yourself, " What's the point?"

Being the Pessimistic warrior that I am this happens to be on a daily basis. But I did receive some good news yesterday that subdued that feeling (for the time being).  Now I'm not one to believe that everything happens for a reason but sometimes things make you go hmmmmm.

I stayed up all night and i was awake for 24 hours plus. With nothing to do I got on twitter and saw a tweet from Dj Ted Smooth complementing Cipha Sounds on Mix going from Ted Smooths Rmx of Blame it to a remix of Elephant man's Nuh Linga which both use C-Murder's Down for my Niggaz.  I would have missed this tweet because i'm usually asleep around the time i saw it.

Since Cipha Sounds is well known for rocking dope dance hall sets i figured i'd post the link of my blend on his blog and hope he likes it. Anyone that follows Cipha Sounds knows he is a tough one to please when it comes to blends. so the fact that he used my blend on his mix show on Hot97 no less is a big deal in my opinion lol

So I get a nervous feelings thinking " could that be my blend?" With confirmation from Ted Smooth it turns out that it was.

This just help me reassure that people are listening and there is a reason for me to continue this dream. I'm hoping Cipha Sounds posts the mix from that day, if he does I will post it on my blog.

Okay right after i posted this blog i went on Cipha Sounds Blog and he posted my remix for people to download..peep it here

Paying Attention to MC's again

Posted by DeeJayVrs

Saying hip hop is dead only means you don't belong. Joel Ortiz is one of the latest MC's that has me hype and excited about looking for an artist music. The other one is TheKidDaytona. Found out about him thru the Juan Epstein podcast and the kid just seems to be getting better with each song. The scary part is it looks like it comes so easy to him along with JetAudio coming so correct on the beat. You know what, this song is so ill to me I can't even think of things to say because it's going to turn into a groupie column. Just listen. I think the"Wuken Pu Nub" line did it for me lol. Props if you know the reference!

Dj M-Squared Soul2Go

Posted by DeeJayVrs

Forget all the ego, money, and promotions. Enjoy the music and the people in it. In the end we are all just fans of this culture. This is a Podcast from Dj M-Squared out of Orlando Flordia. Sharp cuts and dope selection, like little brother would say, "What more do you want?"

Get your Soul 2 Go

When Remixes were more than just adding a feature. Found this during the usual vinyl rip.

Come get your dose of 90's flava right here!

No words....Just listen and let it take you where you need to be....

Funkmaster Flex - Safe Sex No Freaks (Deep In Brooklyn Rmx)

Posted by DeeJayVrs

Here's a gem I pulled out while ripping vinyl to Mp3. I loved this era of hip hop because there was a large fusion of reggae over hip hop beats. I'm working on getting the music together for a mixtape composed only of reggae/hiphop joints. I'm not stingy especially when it comes to sharing music. So lets take it back with this one and do the butterfly!!

Click here and let's take it to Brooklyn!

Old school artist are just better performers.

This isn't a rant about the current state of hip hop because if you want good music you can find it. And there's nothing wrong with saying fuck it and partying sometimes. Along with that I'm only 28 and I don't know shit but it's as simple as that, they are just better performers. Only conclusion I can come to is they came up in a time where if you don't come correct don't come at all.

Now a days people are coming from all angles. Making a career in music is more comparable to winning the lottery rather than being good enough to entertain  and maintaining longevity. Not a hating on anyone in particular, but I don't get the same feeling when I attend current shows compared to the feeling I get watching a clip on YouTube from 25 years ago. lol

Who said Hip Hop was dead?

Posted by DeeJayVrs

I always post music that i enjoy on this blog instead of whats new or hot so you know i'm going to share this with you all. Come fly With Me by The Kid Daytona is a hands down solid project with production mostly by 6th Sense (Segue) who also produced Brand New Day by Outasight. Im not here to critic peoples music so take a listen and judge for yourself but i'm sure you wont be disappointed.
